Children have different ways of learning. Some kids learn through visual, reading and writing, auditory, and kinesthetic. Each type of learner responds uniquely to different method of teaching. Teachers in school should have a strategy on how to handle diversities in the classroom.

On the other hand, let’s talk about ways our children learn at home through games. Since our kids’ first school is at home and the parents are the first teachers, we must be aware of the environment that we give them at home. It is important that we strain our children with a healthy surrounding. Making educational games available because we are not beside our children 24/7 in the house is the best alternative to make.

There are numerous educational games available in the malls or some can just be downloaded online. Not too expensive ones or free download games are practical for a family with just an average income.

Here are suggested games for your grade schoolers:

  1. Toontastic is a fun game applicable for grade schoolers because the application teaches students to identify the elements of a story. This improves the comprehension and vocabulary the users.
  1. The Land of Venn—Geometric Defense is designed in the manner that students may not even being taught of Math.
  1. Mystery Math Town – this application includes fun Math practice. It develops the ability of the students to solve mathematical problems.

For toddlers, here are suggested games:

  1. “Simon Says” can be played one on one or with group of kids. This is a good strategy for kids to learn the body parts, since the game is about following instructions. Someone must play the role of Simon, who will give instructions, like, “Simon says, touch your knees”, and so on and so forth.
  1. “One for you, one for me” teaches our toddlers how to share. Here, you need to have pile of colorful objects, for example, crayons, big buttons, etc. You will ask him/her to distribute objects between you two while saying, “one for you, one for me”.

While we have these educational resources for our children, let us just give them a little portion of their free time for games. We need to consider that anything that is too much is not good. Make sure that you have time for your kids because your bonding with them is still very important as they grow.
