A happy family composes a peaceful community, and peaceful communities comprise a stable country. Because a family is composed of its individual members, each person has to play a part in the group. The father, mother, children and even their pets could be part of a family. But to achieve such a feat, one must work together as a team, as a family. To achieve a peaceful community, its members must have the qualities of a happy one. Though a family does not necessarily consist of a mother or father, any parental figure is enough to be called one. Because every individual is unique, so is a family, the secret to building one varies in every situation.

  1. Love one another. A family cannot be called a family if it is not bounded by love. With love comes along all the other values which are important in building it. The members must possess a selfless love, that way giving out their feelings for each other fills out the love they have already given.
  2. Proper communication between its members. With the rise of technology and the busy working life, family members tend to forget communicating with their loved ones. The society nowadays makes us preoccupied that talking or even texting to our mother or siblings already taken for granted. It is a good thing that together with the innovations in technology, communicating with our loved one is made very easy like Skype or Facebook Messenger.
  3. Patience is a virtue. Not only at home we should show patience, but also in our daily lives at work or in the streets. Keeping a cool head every time will assure us that we make the right decisions.
  4. Respect one another. This one usually comes with loving one another. Respecting the decisions of other members will allow a more peaceful way of living. Respecting not only the members of the Family tree but also the community as well.
  5. Compassion among its members. One must encourage the expression of each other’s feelings, burdens, and problems, and that one must always be ready to empathize with him.
  6. Work to earn a living. Each family member has its own responsibility in the team. The most common is that fathers work to earn money, while the mother does the chores at home. Children keep the relationship alive by keeping the parents happy and smiling.
  7. Have fun. It is never a bad idea to play games with the family. Recreational activities like swimming, hiking, music, or stroll in the mall. Having fun once in a while also helps relieve stress.
  8. Forgiveness. When you love someone, forgiveness comes with it. Because everyone is entitled to his or her actions, there is a good chance that misunderstandings may arise
  9. Faithfulness. The father and mother must remain faithful to each other.
  10. Worshipping the Lord. Praying to our God and asking for forgiveness allows more blessing to come for the family.
