Being responsive parents means reacting quickly and positively to certain situation which concern their children. When parents ignore when their children say something, sometimes, like adults, they feel disappointed or upset. They often think they are rejected when not heard. This applies also when the child is still in the mother’s womb. 

Parents can be responsive by planning their parenthood ahead of time. Responsiveness starts from here and not only when the child is already there. Physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual should be prepared. Having children is a very big responsibility and every aspect must be considered. Starting point of the nourishment should start when the baby is still in the mother’s womb. Support should be given as early as this time. 

According to Freud, kids progress through series of psycho-sexual stages. These stages are oral, anal, phallic, latent, and genital. In every stage, the pleasure – seeking energies of what we call id drive for satisfaction. When satisfaction doesn’t meet, then conflicts arise. These conflicts must be resolved because these will affect in the development of adult personality. 

In other words, from pregnancy of the mother till the first 5 years of child’s developmental stage is very crucial. Parents need to be keen on this part. Responsive parenting is enormously important in every child’s personality and what he will become in the future.
