Every child’s weaknesses are need to be understood and be guided with proper care and assessment. When academic and behavior challenges are evident in a child’s routine, these should be deemed as enormously important for us parents or guardians.

Since Intellectual Disability is both factual and assumptive in labels, we need to be cautious in assessing our child. Sensible approach is what we need here. As parents, it is not easy to mobilize our children’s future. We feel depressed when we do not know where to start. “Where do we have to bring our child to be assessed accurately?” is just one of the many questions parents usually have in mind when they encounter problems like this one.

Moreover, no matter how complex the problem is, we always start from a certain point. We do this because we want to understand our child deeply and help him/her to the highest level that we can. We get to be anxious, so we sometimes rush and quick to conclude which is also understandable. Having said these, we have to consider some steps.

First, consult a developmental pediatrician. The pediatrician is supposed to enlighten your path for the next series of steps till you find the best option. The pediatrician will give recommendations. She will definitely suggest other professionals that will work collaboratively for the child’s case.

We need to consider the fact that there is no single principle that holds an expertise that will bolster fully people who have this kind of challenge. At least, our anxiety and depression will be lessened knowing that there are experts who are willing to help us and our children face this kind of exceptionality.

Thank you to our experts who share their skills and learnings to help our children with exceptionalities.
