The animated world of Pokémon’s has been around for more than twenty years. The worldwide sensation which originated in Japan, started as an animated television mini-series featuring the main character Ash Ketchum as he starts his Pokémon journey around the world. Together with his Pokémon, also known as Pocket Monsters, he travels from place to place hoping to capture many Pokémon and be the best Pokémon trainer in the world. Of course, his journey is filled with a lot of adventures, and great friends that guided him.

The successful storyline hinted the producers to franchise the series into interactive games for kids. Ranging from Trading Card games to the popular Pokémon Gameboy, Nintendo Japan has created a new world for children and adults to enjoy. Since Pokémon’s take the imagery of the real-life pets we have, their adorable animation makes them even more fascinating.

The Pokémon game in Gameboy has been one of the first games that have been made. It was so popular that the game was made with the different version like Pokémon Fire Red, Pokémon Crystal, and Pokémon Emerald, with each game consisting of hundreds of new adventures and Pokémon’s. Since the Gameboy at that time was one of the most popular game media of Pokémon, it was such a click to children because they can play on it anytime and anywhere they want.

Pokémon console games have also been in demand. Unlike the Gameboy, console games are made even more realistic since players make use of more refined graphics and better gameplay. A role-playing game (RPG) like the Gameboy which adopts the storyline of the series into the game.  Another game is the Pokémon trading card game. Here players use a collectible card and assume the role of a trainer and battle other players. This is a highly strategic game is more popular with teenagers and even adults since the game has a more competitive sense in it. The game designers introduced the game to be played in iOS and Android phones. Classified as an Augmented reality game, the game design allows the player to experience the interactive real-world environment with that of the computer-generated play. The game makes use of the phone’s Global positioning system (GPS), players get to travel from place to place making them on the go, thus its name Pokémon Go.

Since players are required to walk distance like that of a real Pokémon trainer, the game became a huge success. Promoting physical activity, trainers in the game also experience accidents and other security concerns.
