Do you think you show you love your kids the most when you give them everything they want? For me, the answer to this is “no”.

Giving your children everything they ask for does not only mean you love them. Sad to say, this means covering up your flaws as parents, sometimes. You use these material things to replace the time and the real love you should give them.

The best love you could give them is the proper parenting. When you think of what the best for your children is, it would probably mean considering the short and long-term bases. You will think of the plans that you should do to meet the best goal for your kids. For you to do these, you should have time with them.

Being hands on to your children would make you become closer to your children and by this, the friendship develops. This kind of relationship teaches your children to be honest and be open with you like their real friends in the school setting. In addition, this would be an opportunity for you to know their strengths and weaknesses.

Also, setting as good examples is a powerful tool to teach your children. Your kids mimic what you do. If you are responsible parents, most likely, they will also be responsible in the future.

Children learn more from what you are than what you teach. (D.E.B Du Bois)

Love has the power to change many things. Your love for your children especially brings them the following:

  1. It gives them courage. Courage to face the challenges life has to offer.
  2. It makes them happy. Whenever you say them, “I love you”, they feel happy. The joy in their hearts is immeasurable.
  3. It tells them that they have someone to trust. They need people to confide their secrets in life. They know that you will listen to them because you love them more than anything.
  4. It makes them feel they are important. Your children feel they are valued because of the love you show them. They learn to believe that they are valuable and unique in their own ways.
  5. It gives them a chance to show who they are. It makes them feel alright even when they make mistakes because in front you, they will just be corrected and not condemned.
  6. It makes them feel secure. The most effective result of love is the security that your kids can draw from your love.
